Beginning Brass, French Horn

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Brian Nowak has enjoyed success as an orchestral horn player and chamber musician in the Mid-Michigan and Boston areas. Brian has served as the Assistant-Principle Horn in the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra during the 2015-16 season. In addition, he performed at the 2015 Midwest Clinic in Chicago in the horn section of the Central Michigan Symphonic Wind Ensemble. The group accompanied George Curran as he premiered David Gillingham’s bass trombone concerto, Vital Signs of Planet Earth. While in graduate school at the Boston Conservatory, he joined the “No Strings Attached” brass quintet in January 2017, which performed primarily in Boston. Brian also had the privilege of performing in a masterclass for Stefan Jezierski, sitting member of the Berlin Philharmonic. His accolades include honorable mention in the 2015 Paul Willwerth Brass competition. Brian holds an undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree from the Boston Conservatory. His primary teachers include: Eli Epstein and Dr. Bruce Bonnell.
