INSTRUCTOR PROFILE

Scott earned his Bachelor in Music Education from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and has been teaching music since 1995. He has been teaching percussion at Dietze Music in Omaha since 2007, working with his students on drum set, concert percussion, marching percussion (snare & tenors), and mallet percussion (bells & vibraphone).

Currently performing and recording with local acts Matt Whipkey, Ocean Black, and Citizen’s Band, Scott is an active member of the Omaha music scene. He has performed and toured with Rave On: The Buddy Holly Experience, Sarah Benck & The Robbers, Planet Butter, All Young Girls Are Machine Guns, Ground Tyrants, Kelsey Nord Band, and Ætherplough. In 2015 and 2016, Scott opened for Grammy winning artist Dwight Yoakam in concerts nationwide while performing with Matt Whipkey.

At the University of Nebraska, Scott was a member of the NU Drumline (section leader from 1992-1994), Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Percussion Ensemble

His past teaching experience includes being the assistant band and orchestra director at Omaha North High School from 1995-97. Scott was also the drumline instructor/arranger for Lincoln High School from 1998 to 2006 and Omaha North High School from 2015 to 2016.
