INSTRUCTOR PROFILE

Eric just finished up his 3rd year as the K-12 Music Director at Falls City Sacred Heart, a small school of about 230 total students. There he taught general music, choir, and band to all levels. He is excited to begin his master’s degree studies right here at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln!

Eric started playing trumpet in 5th grade back in 2003. He had two main incentives for picking the trumpet, the first being that his Mom played it and he always looked up to her, and the second being that he wanted to play the Star Wars theme. After having one amazing experience after the other with music, it was when Eric was a sophomore in high school that he realized he wanted to do this for the rest of my life. He was fortunate enough to be able to go to the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where he studied with Charles Daval, former principal trumpet of the Boston Pops Orchestra, and was able to play under the baton of some outstanding conductors like Dr. Stephen Peterson. Eventually he got his undergrad in Music Education and made his way out to Nebraska.

Eric believes that it is a teacher’s job to empower the student and give them the sense that they can play anything that is put in front of them. This requires many years of hard work and dedication, but with that as the ultimate goal in mind, all that effort will be worth it. He’s excited to get started with you!
